Kids and Weddings
There is on etiquette here, just your own preference. There are however some items to consider prior to deciding.
Does your venue allow kids? While most do, there are venues that possibly have a 'no children preference'. Discuss with the venue management their concerns and reasons for recommending no children. If you currently have children on your guest list, ensure you take into account the extra responsibilities that will come with having the kids RSVP, Yes.
Kids Meals. Ensure that your discuss with your caterer costing for kids menus. Children should be at a 50% discount (approx) to the per head cost of an adult for meals. Ask your caterer for other kids meal options like a taco or hotdog cart/table.
Kids in Wedding Parties. It is not mandatory to have a Flower Girl or Page Boy/Ring Bearer. Also, you should not feel pressured from family or friends with kids to include their kids in these roles. While these roles can play a major part in your wedding day and bring lots of cute ooohs an agahs from guests, they are not a must have.
Paying for kids outfits. If you have chosen to have children in your wedding party, it is suggested that you cover all costs to have them be a part of your beautiful day.
Keeping Kids happy/amused. There are 'wedding kits' available for kids through many wedding website. Check out Wedding Day Emergency Kit, who cater for a wide range of budgets, but specialise in keeping your guests kids entertainment. If the kids are part of your wedding party you could include a thank you gift or Certificate of Appreciation (this is a nice touch through speeches).
Kids can make a great addition to your day, with photography opportunities, smiles, laughter and a flow of love from start to beginning. Remember to enjoy Your Special Day with them.
